Observation
of the clean up of a diesel oil spill less than 15 gallons and removal of
decommissioned diesel oil tank at the Nordale Yard in Fairbanks was documented

TAPS Right-of-Way Lease
Renewal:
JPO staff is reviewing the Preliminary Draft Environmental Impact
Statement for TAPS renewal. The Draft
EIS is scheduled to be published in early July for a 45-day public review. The Commissioner’s Analysis and Proposed
Decision is likewise in the review phase and set to be released for review when
the EIS is released. The availability
of the Drafts will be widely publicized when they are ready for public review
and comment.

People News:
Ron Doyel officially became the new Alaska Department
of Environmental Conservation's liaison to the JPO May 16th. He has more than 12 years of experience with
ADEC as an Environmental Health Officer and Environment Specialist, including
more than eight years with ADEC's Valdez Marine Terminal Oversight Unit. Ron also worked on assignment to BLM within
JPO for a time.

The Joint Pipeline Office is a consortium of seven State and six
Federal agencies with oversight responsibilities for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline
System and other oil and gas pipelines in Alaska. The JPO came into existence in 1990 and stemmed from a
cooperative effort by the Bureau of Land Management and the Alaska Department
of Natural Resources.
